These General Rental Terms apply to all scooter and ATV rentals provided by Skiathos Rental on the island of Skiathos. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
To rent from Skiathos Rental, you must meet both the minimum age and licence requirements.
Riders aged 19–20 may rent only an S1 (50cc) vehicle and must have previous practical riding experience. Holding a valid driving licence alone is not sufficient.
Riding ability may be verified by Skiathos Rental during vehicle collection. First-time riders are not eligible.
If the renter cannot demonstrate adequate riding ability, the vehicle will not be delivered. Where previous riding experience was incorrectly declared during booking, the reservation may be cancelled without refund in accordance with Section 4.
- 19–20 years old – S1 (50cc) only. First-time riders are not eligible.
- 21–24 years old – Eligible categories: Scooters: S1, S2, S3, S4; ATVs: A1, A2
- 25+ years old – Eligible for all scooter and ATV categories (S1–S4, A1–A3).
- A valid driving licence held for at least 12 months.
- S1 (50cc): AM, A1, A2, A or EU B licence
- S2 (125cc): A1, A2 or A licence
- S3–S4 (over 125cc): A2 or A licence
- ATVs (A1–A3): Valid EU category B licence required.
- Non-EU and non-UK licences require an International Driving Permit (IDP).
If you are unsure whether your licence is valid for a specific vehicle, please contact us before booking. At pickup, if your licence does not meet the legal requirements, we may cancel the rental without refund, as outlined in section 4.
We accept:
- Credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard)
- Online payment through our booking system
- Cash payments (in selected cases, subject to approval)
A security deposit is pre-authorized on the driver’s card at vehicle pickup. This is not a charge, but a temporary hold.
The security pre-authorisation is not the renter’s maximum financial liability. Depending on the selected Protection Plan and the circumstances of the incident, the renter may remain responsible for an amount exceeding the pre-authorised deposit.

The deposit is released after the vehicle is returned, provided that:
- there are no unpaid damages or extra charges (fuel, fines, cleaning), and
- all rental terms have been respected.
- Minimum age: 21+
- Minimum rental period: 3 days
- A cash deposit may be required depending on the vehicle category.
Each rental includes Basic Protection by default. You may upgrade to Comfort Protection for an additional daily fee.
We do not offer “zero responsibility / full Protection Plans". If you cause damage, you will always have some responsibility.
Basic Protection meets the minimum legal Protection Plan requirements and is suitable for experienced drivers who are comfortable taking full responsibility for damages to the rented vehicle.
- Mandatory third-party liability coverage
- Limited theft protection
- Roadside assistance in case of mechanical or electrical failure (when the renter is not at fault)
- Damage to the rented scooter or ATV when the renter is at fault
- Negligence or reckless driving
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Driving on restricted or non-approved roads
- Damage to tyres, rims, plastic parts, underbody, accessories (top box, mirrors, etc.)
With Basic Protection, if you are at fault in an accident or cause damage to the rented vehicle, you are responsible for the full repair cost, without a fixed limit.
If you are clearly not at fault (as proven by an official police report and Protection Plan statement), we will not charge you for repair costs that are covered by the third party’s Protection Plan, but administrative fees may still apply.
Comfort Protection is recommended for most travellers. It limits your maximum financial responsibility (excess) if you cause damage to the rented scooter or ATV.

- Keeps the same third-party liability and theft coverage as Basic.
- Extends roadside assistance to cover more incidents.
- Limits the maximum amount you may pay in case of damage you cause, up to the excess shown above.
- Damages of €1,200 to a 125cc scooter with Comfort Protection → You pay up to €350, we cover the rest.
- Damages of €2,500 to a 450cc ATV with Comfort Protection → You pay up to €900, we cover the rest.
Your financial responsibility for eligible vehicle damage is limited to the applicable excess, provided that all Rental Terms and Protection Plan conditions have been respected.
- Intentional damage or vandalism
- Dangerous or reckless driving (including wheelies, stunts, racing)
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Driving on non-approved off-road tracks or restricted areas
- Serious misuse or overloading of the vehicle
- Damage to tyres, rims, plastic parts, underbody and accessories when clearly caused by misuse
In these cases, you may be fully liable for the cost of repair, even if you have purchased Comfort Protection.
To ensure vehicle availability and fair allocation during the rental season, the following cancellation and no-show policy applies to all bookings:
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. The €50 deposit is refundable.
- Save 5% - Non-refundable.
- Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pickup will result in a charge equal to one (1) rental day, based on the booked vehicle category.
- If the renter fails to appear at the agreed pickup time and location without prior notice, the booking will be considered a no-show.
- In case of no-show, one (1) rental day will be charged.
- Requests to change the pickup date, return date, time, location or vehicle must be submitted at least 48 hours before the scheduled pickup and are valid only after written confirmation by Skiathos Rental.
- Unconfirmed changes do not modify the original reservation, rental period or agreed rental amount.
- Requests made less than 48 hours before pickup are subject to availability and may be refused.
- For bookings where payment is made at pickup, a card pre-authorization may be required to secure the reservation.
- In case of late cancellation or no-show, the applicable charge may be deducted from the pre-authorized amount.
The following situations are considered non-refundable and may result in cancellation without refund:
- Failure to present a valid driving licence meeting legal requirements
- Failure to meet age requirements
- Failure to present an International Driving Permit (where required)
- Refusal or inability to provide the required security deposit or card pre-authorization
- Failure of a 19–20-year-old rider to demonstrate the required previous practical riding experience, where such experience was declared during booking.
By completing a booking, the renter acknowledges and accepts this cancellation and no-show policy.
Vehicles are delivered with a certain fuel level and must be returned with the same level.
If the vehicle is returned with less fuel: Fuel difference is charged at €2.50 per litre, plus a €5 refuelling service fee.
We do not refund fuel for vehicles returned with more fuel than at pickup.
Rental Calculation: A return scheduled after 10:00 may be charged as an additional rental day.
Pickup and return take place at the agreed time and meeting point (hotel, port, airport or other location).
- 0–29 minutes: No charge
- 30 minutes–1 hour: €10–€20 late fee.
- Over 1 hour: One additional rental day.
If you wish to extend your rental, please contact us as early as possible to confirm availability and pricing.
Standard service hours for vehicle pickup and return are 09:00 – 21:00, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Out-of-hours pickup or return (before 09:00 or after 21:00) is available only upon prior arrangement and is subject to availability.
The following conditions apply:
- An out-of-hours service fee may apply, depending on the location, time, and vehicle category.
- The applicable fee will be clearly communicated and agreed before the booking is confirmed.
- Requests made less than 24 hours in advance may not be accommodated.
- Delays must be communicated to Skiathos Rental as soon as possible.
- We will make reasonable efforts to adjust the pickup time, subject to availability.
- Significant delays or unannounced changes may result in additional charges or rescheduling.
- Arriving outside standard service hours without prior agreement does not guarantee service.
- In such cases, Skiathos Rental is not obliged to perform the pickup or return outside normal operating hours.
By requesting an out-of-hours service, the renter acknowledges that additional fees and conditions may apply.
To keep you safe and protect our vehicles, the following are strictly prohibited:
- Driving scooters on rough off-road tracks or unsuitable dirt roads
- Using ATVs on dangerous off-road routes, steep rocky paths or closed areas
- Transporting the vehicle outside Skiathos, except to Skopelos or Alonissos under the conditions of Section 10
- Transporting hazardous materials
- Using the vehicle for races, stunts, speed tests or towing
- Exceeding the approved number of passengers
Violation of these rules:
- Any violation of these rules may cause the selected Protection Plan not to apply and may make the renter fully responsible for all resulting damage, recovery and related costs.
Skiathos Rental cooperates with a professional local garage / roadside service for breakdowns and assistance.
- 09:00 – 18:00: Full support and roadside assistance
- 18:00 – 09:00: Assistance only in case of accident or serious incident
Examples:
- Engine or electrical failure
- Mechanical breakdown not caused by misuse
In these cases:
- We arrange roadside assistance with our partner garage.
- The call-out fee is covered by Skiathos Rental.
- You are not charged, as long as the rental terms have been respected.
Examples:
- Flat battery because lights were left on
- Flat tyre from hitting a kerb or obstacle
- Vehicle stuck in sand or unsuitable off-road area
- Running out of fuel or using the wrong fuel
- Lost, broken or locked-in key
In these cases:
- We can still arrange roadside assistance via our partner garage,
- but all costs (call-out, labour, parts) are paid directly by you to the garage, according to their official price list.
- Skiathos Rental does not add any margin or commission; we only coordinate the service.
- For accidents or serious safety incidents: call us immediately.
- For non-urgent issues (e.g. flat tyre, low battery, minor problems): park the vehicle safely and contact us the next day during service hours.
In case of an accident:
- Ensure your safety and the safety of others.
- Call the police and Skiathos Rental immediately.
- Do not move the vehicle unless necessary for safety.
The driver is fully responsible for:
- Traffic violations
- Parking tickets
- Toll or ferry tickets
- Any fines issued during the rental
- Fine handling fee: €15 per fine (in addition to the fine amount)
- Accident handling/administration fee: €30 per accident, regardless of fault
Vehicles may only be transported to and used on Skopelos and Alonissos.
Customers must inform us before departure and purchase Ferry Travel Assistance.
Ferry Travel Assistance
Fee: €8 per day (maximum €50 per rental)
Includes:
- Roadside assistance coordination in Skopelos and Alonissos
- Assistance with mechanical breakdowns and accidents
- Vehicle recovery coordination, where available
- No roadside assistance is provided outside Skiathos
- The renter is responsible for all recovery, towing, repair and vehicle return costs
- Any Protection Plan remains subject to the terms and exclusions of the selected protection plan
Travel to any other island or mainland Greece is not permitted.
Ferry Travel Assistance must be purchased before the vehicle leaves Skiathos.
